Learning from the Field: Case Studies in Sustainable Community Development

April 13 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Dr. Richard White will offer a workshop in which participants work through case studies focused on sustainable community development. Problem-posing case studies from the field actively engage learners in addressing problems in complex, ambiguous settings and help them develop skills in: Community Engagement; Problem solving; Analysis, Assessment and Evaluation; Decision making; Coping with ambiguities; and more. Case studies are not just for academics, but are useful for training new staff,  professional development, board orientation, and community outreach. Come learn how to develop teaching cases you can use to highlight your organization’s culture, values, and approach in addressing some of the world’s most important and difficult problems.

The session will take place in room 220 of PSU’s Urban Center Building.  Use the building’s main entrance and central staircase to access the room.  This session will not be offered online due the collaboration which will take place while working through the case studies.
