Disrupting Climate Finance

09/21/2022 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The business-as-usual approach is not working—it is critical to disrupt traditional climate finance. A diverse group of leaders from Indigenous Peoples & Local Communities and Fund Managers will explore emerging climate finance models that enable direct investment into community solutions.

This event is convened at a critical juncture ahead of COP27, with the mobilization of private finance for nature-based, community-designed solutions becoming increasingly important.

Speakers include Manoel Chorimpa (Marubo tribesman and organizer for the Union of Indigenous Peoples of the Javari Valley), Emma Pineda (Project Officer for Latin America and the Pacific Region of the Pawanka Fund), Dr. Nicole Redvers (Assistant Professor of Indigenous Health at the University of North Dakota), Sophia Kianni (UN Climate Advisor and founder of Climate Cardinals), and Ashley Emerson (Chief Program & Research Officer of Health In Harmony). The event will be moderated by Umair Irfan (Environment, Energy and Science reporter for Vox).

This event is part of Climate Week NYC 2022. Stay tuned for a complete run of show coming soon!
