GlobalPDX Workshop: Overcoming administrative challenges when working in multiple countries

Join GlobalPDX July 26 for a workshop geared to small and medium nonprofits and start-up organizations who are struggling with questions of administration, process, and planning.

The session will be hosted by GlobalPDX member blueEnergy, who as a small organization, needed to adopt a robust and highly sophisticated administrative backend system in order to work in multiple countries across different languages conforming to compliance/reporting requirements, legal structures, accounting norms that varied significantly.

The session will cover a decision-making framework for evaluating needs/goals and identify potential avenues of implementation in the following categories:

  • CRM/Donor Management
  • Accounting Platform
  • Financial Reporting
  • Compliance
  • Organization and Management Structure
  • Planning and Budgeting

blueEnergy will also discuss the hurdles, tribulations, and pains it faced as it developed its approach to the topics above, and some insight into how to avoid pitfalls in implementation, evaluation, and scale of these core administrative competencies.

The workshop will run from 8:30 to 10:30am on Wednesday, July 26 and will be held at Portland State University, Engineering Building (1930 SW 4th Ave, Portland, OR 97201) Room 510. The session will be broadcasted via Skype for those who will participate remotely. The workshop is free, though registration is requested for anyone participating.
