How to Prevent Discrimination in the Workplace Webinar

05/21/2019 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Humentum and TrustLaw, the global pro bono program of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, invite you to join their webinar series on the #metoo movement and its legal perspectives for nonprofits. The series will raise awareness among non-profits and give them the legal tools they need to prevent discrimination and sexual harassment, and promote equality and pay equity.

What are the legal perspectives of the #MeToo movement? Allegations of sexual harassment and abuse among the non-profit sector have highlighted the importance for organizations to lock in their commitment to prevent discrimination and sexual misconduct, by strengthening for example their governance documents.

The expert lawyers will examine how to lock an organization’s commitment to prevent discrimination in its governance documents, HR policies and practices, with a segment for moderated Q&A exchange.

Amanda Carozza, Of Counsel, Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo

Amanda’s practice encompasses a wide variety of employment litigation matters, including disputes involving misappropriation of trade secrets and confidential information, wage and hour violations (including the defense of class actions relating to overtime pay and misclassification claims), discrimination and wrongful termination, breach of fiduciary duties and litigation surrounding the enforcement and defense of non-competition and non-solicitation restrictive covenants. An active contributor to the firm’s commitment to pro bono work, Mandy and a team of Mintz Levin lawyers and co-counsel recently negotiated a $132 million settlement of a lawsuit regarding Mississippi’s use of post-Katrina federal emergency funds. She also focuses her pro bono efforts on victims of domestic violence by providing them with assistance in obtaining restraining orders against their abusers.

Gauri Punjabi, Associate, Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo

Gauri’s employment law practice covers the full scope of labor and employment law issues and encompasses a wide range of industries, including health care, life sciences, technology, education, startup and nonprofit organizations.
