Immigrant & Refugee Community Potluck and Bike Ride (not hosted by GlobalPDX)

July 13, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

The United Nations Association of Portland, Butterfly Boxes and Refugee Center Online are teaming up to host a community potluck and unity bicycle ride in support of our immigrant and refugee neighbors.  The event is planned with Kateri Park, an immigrant and refugee housing complex operated through Catholic Charities.

The potluck begins at 5:30pm at 2740 SE Powell Blvd, and we’re asking interested individuals to read our guidelines here.

The community bike ride will be family friendly, starting just a few hundred feet from the potluck location.  Volunteers will be on hand to provide guidance.  The exact starting spote is at 3640 SE 28th Ave.

We are asking participants to gather on the field at Kateri Park by 6:30pm with a departure time no later than 7pm.  The ride will go through designated bike routes (primarily Neighborhood Greenways), and will last around 30-40 minutes.

Staff at Kateri Park are making a call for donated children’s bikes, helmets and locks to help serve the immigrant and refugee population at the complex.  The children will be required to go through safety training before receiving their bikes.  If you are able to donate any items, please contact [email protected].  We are also making a call for volunteer mechanics!
