Is India the Next Global Superpower?
01/28/2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
India will be the world’s most populous country by 2024 and its third largest economy by 2028. But size alone does not facilitate increased economic growth, global power, or quality of life. Join us on January 28th as we hear from Aparna Pande, Director of the Hudson’s Initiative on the Future of India and South Asia. Pande argues that India’s future success requires a shift in policy attitudes. The conversation will address Pande’s research on India’s policy challenges in socially, economically, militarily, and diplomatically — as well as the actions that will meet these challenges and allow India to actualize its potential. The discussion will also tackle India’s persisting farmer protests, the country’s coronavirus vaccine roll-out, and US-India relations particularly as the countries work to curb the expansion of China’s global dominance. The discussion will be moderated by Derek Grossman, senior defense analyst at RAND focused on a range of national security policy and Indo-Pacific security issues.
