Explore a “planetary health model” where zoos may save animals from extinction by first listening to local communities and reversing trends in human poverty and poor health.

The evening will kick off with a viewing of Oregon Zoo’s elephants in Forest Hall. Zookeepers will discuss the zoo’s work with these amazing pachyderms, and introduce Chendra, who was orphaned in Borneo. Guests will each get a chance for their own elephant selfie! Then at the Cascade Grill, Jeff Wyatt will share about the work of Health In Harmony and how they are working to make lives better for humansand wildlife. The evening will conclude with an exploration of direct actions we can all take to help forests, people and wildlife.

Jeff Wyatt, DVM, MPH, is the director of the Department of Comparative Medicine at the University of Rochester, the Director of Animal Health & Conservation at the Rochester Zoo, and a member of the Health In Harmony board of directors. He is a veterinarian passionate about protecting wildlife, critical ecosystems, and the health of people and animals.

Food and beverages, including Oregon beer and wine, will be available for purchase starting at 5 p.m.
Please note that this event is best suited for adults and older youth (Ages 12+).

Registration is $25 per person, includes an elephant meet & greet. A portion of registration fees collected will be donated to fund the work of Health in Harmony.
