The Art of Inclusive Storytelling (And How Not to Do It)
01/19/2021 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Storytelling plays a huge role in the fostering of empathy, especially in conversations addressing racism, white supremacy, and inequity. Inclusive storytelling, when mastered, takes your ability to engage others with your stories to the next level, making them more resonant and real. However, there are dos and don’ts that can take inclusive storytelling from being inclusive to another tool of white supremacy. In this chat, attendees will get some insight into what inclusive storytelling is as well as how easily inclusive storytelling can alienate or exploit others instead of building connections and empathy.
Attendees will:
- Acquire an understanding of inclusive storytelling
- Gain insight into how inclusive storytelling can be utilized for impactful discourse around white supremacy and inequity
- Learn how not to utilize inclusive storytelling
