In recent years, there has been a proliferation of state, local and utility-based programs to encourage emissions reductions and support renewable energy in Oregon. The passage of the state’s Coal to Clean Act in 2016 led to the establishment of Community Solar, a program which makes renewable energy accessible to Oregonians who do not have the ability to install solar panels on their homes or businesses. An innovative low-income component ensures the program is accessible to all.
Join us for a discussion on Community Solar led by Sherrie Villmark, Program Director with Community Energy Project. We’ll learn how community solar works, how equity goals were incorporated and lessons learned, and how local businesses can get involved to advance their climate and equity goals.
Sherrie has nearly 20 years of experience working with frontline communities through education, outreach, and program design. She has been the lead on the low-income requirement for the Oregon Community Solar Program for the last 3 years.
